SPICES & FOOD BASICS

Salt (I use coarse sea salt)
Pepper (fresh ground pepper is better, you can get pepper grinders, with pepper in the spice aisle)
Garlic powder (not garlic salt, otherwise you end up with to much salt in recipe)
Onion powder (not with salt)
Extra virgin olive oil
Ketchup
Sweet pickle relish
Parmesan cheese (the Parmesan & Romano blend is good too)
Beef cubes
Season all (several different spices in one container)
Pancake/biscuit mix (dry)
Dried onion soup

PANS & UTENSILS

Cast iron skillet
Sauce pan with lid
Cookie sheet pan with lip around edges
Paring knife (for peeling potatoes)
Spatula
Measuring cup
Measuring spoons
Can opener
Pot holders
Cutting board (You can get a plastic one or wood)
Aluminum foil (heavy duty)
Large (1 gallon) zippered food storage bags
Plastic food storage containers with lids
1 quart casserole dish with lid
Strainer (they come in metal or plastic)

BASIC HINTS:  Buy a different spice each week, to keep costs down.  Some spices to have are:  Chile powder, Italian seasoning, Cumin, Cajun seasonings and a small bottle of vinegar.  If you are going to be making pancakes or baking get a small bottle of vegetable oil.
